The Truth is Violated by Falsehood & Outraged by Silence #8

BE READY FOR A STUNNING AND DESPERATELY NEEDED PERSPECTIVE ON  WHETHER OR NOT CALVIN MURDERED SERVETUS. DID CALVIN MURDER SERVETUS? IS AN ESSENTIAL READ FOR ANYONE SEEKING AFTER TRUTH ON THIS HIGHLY CONTROVERIAL SUBJECT.

Did Calvin Murder Servetus? Written by Standford Rives, an attorney who has practiced law in California for 27 years. In school he studied Latin and classical Greek. Mr. Rives has been an evangelical Christian since he was 15. He was baptized in a Baptist Church and has spent most of his 31 years attending a Reformed Calvinist congregation.
Listed below is an excerpt from his book, Did Calvin Murder Servetus?
"In 1535 Calvin wrote a leading work of the Reformation - The Institutes of Christian Religion. In the 1540s, Servetus wrote Calvin a scribbled insult on a page of the Institutes. It said anyone who held Calvin's doctrine of Infant Baptism, "had a demon". In 1546, Calvin told Farel that he would not let Servetus leave Geneva alive if Servetus ever set foot in Geneva. Did Calvin make that decision to kill Servetus upon spiritual principles? Or did he seek revenge? Did Calvin murder Sevetus?"
A lawyer of Reformed training (Rives) carefully examines the case, and puts John Calvin on trial for the alleged murder of Michael Servetus. Carefully examine the evidence and the facts provided and decide for yourself whether Calvin is innocent or guilty on the charges of murder in the first degree.

THE ONLY TRUE RELIGION
IS A RELIGION BASED ON TRUTH

I encourage anyone reading this blog, to TEST EVERYTHING that you read. Don't believe me or my critics, do your own research, find your own resources and draw your own conclusions. And in all things let the Bible be your final authority. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 "Test all things; hold fast to what is good". Acts 17:11b "...in that they received the Word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so".

I purchased the book by Mr. Rives, it is available on Amazon.

  1. "If we find that Calvin murdered Servetus, then we as Christians are duty-bound to hold Calvin's writings under a strong spectre of skepticism. Jesus and the apostle John tell us to look at the fruit to know whether someone is truly worthy of trust as a teacher, apostle, prophet or a believer. (Matt. 12:33; Rev. 2:2; 1 John 3:10). For example, John insists that no murderer has eternal life abiding in them 1 John 3:10. Thus we should become as wary of the doctrine of Calvin as we would the doctrine from a Pharisee". ~ Stanford Rives

  2. Calvinists will make the argument that killing others was somehow justified since "it was what people did back then". This type of argument is based on RELATIVE TRUTH; however, GOD'S TRUTH, which IS ABSOLUTE, does not change from one generation to the next or one culture to the next.

It is offensive, in view of the EVIDENCE, to base one's spriritual beliefs on John Calvin. Please, I encourage you to do your own research on John Calvin, and discover for yourself the TRUTH.

  3. Still reading the book. After considering the evidence presented, thus far, it seems very clear to me that John Calvin had a darkened heart, not enlightened as some would like us to believe. John Calvin's hatred for Servetus, blinded him in a spiritual sense, which also spiritually hindered him to rightly divide the word of truth.

As a foot note to the book, Did Calvin Murder Servetus, is the author, Standford Rives, really a Calvinist?

  4. "The problem with the Calvinistic view of perseverance is similar to the problem of the Arminian view of perseverance. That is, in Calvinism and Arminianism, justification and sanctification are hardly (if at all) distinguishable. The Calvinist says you do not persevere unto the end, you were never saved. The Arminian says that if you do not persevere to the end, you will lose your salvation. But neither can simply accept the record of Scripture that if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you will be saved. Both, in effect, say that you must believe and must keep on believing in a way that manifests itself through perseverance to the end to be certain of your ultimate salvation. Again, Calvinism denies the believer assurance whereas Arminianism denies the believer security" (Bryson). The Calvinist and Armenian views on eternal security are rooted in a works based system that relies on the ability of man to persevere until the end, instead of the saving grace of our Lord and Savior!

"I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.” Galatians 2:21

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast" Ephesians 2:8-9

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life." John 6:47

"My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand." John 10:29

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." Romans 5:8-10

"You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?" Galatians 3:1-2

"know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified. If, while we seek to be justified in Christ, it becomes evident that we ourselves are sinners, does that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! If I rebuild what I destroyed, I prove that I am a lawbreaker. For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" Galatians 2:16-21

  5. Violence is an admission that ones ideas and goals can not prevail on its own merits.

John Calvin has destroys the name of Christ by his violence and hatred masqueraded as Christian love.

He does not believe that does not live according to his belief.

The Institutes of Christian Religion was given for information, the Bible was given for transformation.

Scripture has been, and can be the most dangerous weapon in the world unless it is carefully read and understood in full context.

Men such as John Calvin will debate their religion, fight for it, kill for it, die for it, and do anything except live for it.
